Dr. Richard S. Casden is a distinguished ophthalmologist renowned for his expertise in cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. Currently serving as the Medical Director of the Wilton Ambulatory Surgical Center in Wilton, CT, Dr. Casden has left an indelible mark on Danbury's medical landscape by introducing cutting-edge technologies to the community.
His pioneering spirit is exemplified by his achievement as the first ophthalmologist to perform YAG laser surgery for post-cataract patients at Danbury Hospital. Dr. Casden's mastery extends to Advanced Technology Intraocular Lenses (ATIOL), where he has played a pivotal role as one of the seven ophthalmologists in Connecticut to successfully implant the first multifocal intraocular lenses following FDA approval in 1998.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Casden's dedication to philanthropy is evident through his humanitarian work. He has provided essential ophthalmic care to indigent patients in Haiti at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer.
